This is next time we visit the air base of the Lithuanian Air Force in Siauliai, knowing that any visit was preceded by a large preparations and required a number of approvals and formalities. This place serves as the main base for the country commanding the chairman of the NATO mission – Baltic Air Policing. These are not planned exercise, but a real military mission, whose main task is to defend the eastern flank of NATO.
We are on board of Lithuanian Air Force transport plane C-27J Spartan, which is flying over Lithuania. Whether is not good – low visibility, full cloud coverage with the highest layer at 22 000 ft and lowest at 800 ft. Luckily we are able to find a gap in layers at the altitude of 4000-6000 ft – these are not perfect conditions for flying, the amount of light is quite small, but it is enough to make a formation flight with hungarian JAS-39 Gripen fighters.
Thanks to the great cooperation with the Lithuanian Air Force and the Hungarian Air Force we have the opportunity to take unique photos Air-to-Air of fighters over the clouds during the Baltic Air Policing mission. Cooperation with the pilots is going well, as can be seen in the pictures below. Have a look at the report!
